Bottle Logistics EA

Bottle Logistics EA Ltd is a Nairobi-based glass waste management company founded in 2019. It collects post-industrial and post-consumer glass, sorts and cleans it, and returns it to the economy as washed reusable bottles, refined cullet for glass manufacturers, upcycled tableware and glass aggregate for construction. Bottle washing for Kenyan distillers and bottlers makes up around 80% of the business, with partners including Coca-Cola and Heineken listed on its site.

Co-founder and CEO Louisa Gathecha left formal employment in 2020 to run the company full time after an early US$36,000 grant from MbeleNaBiz, a Kenyan government programme funded through the World Bank's Kenya Youth Employment Opportunities Project. The company operates from Ruai on Nairobi's Eastern Bypass and opened a glass crushing plant in Nakuru. It also works in Uganda and Tanzania.

By late 2025 the workforce had grown to about 140 people, a majority of them women, with cullet output rising from 80 to 300 tons a month and washing capacity reaching 1.2 million bottles a month. The company reports 66,400 tons of glass diverted from landfill and 11,066 tons of CO2 avoided. Gathecha was named a 2026 Cartier Women's Initiative Fellow.
