About AceleAfrica

AceleAfrica Limited develops, assembles and services lithium-ion battery energy storage systems for East Africa. It builds packs from both new cells and repurposed second-life batteries, and supplies them for home backup, commercial and industrial storage, mini-grids and electric mobility. In-house battery engineers and a BATLAB testing facility handle cell grading, pack assembly and performance analysis, and the company offers maintenance and repurposing services to extend battery life.

Customers are solar installers, mini-grid developers, businesses and energy-access companies; the website shows partner logos including d.light and BBOXX. AceleAfrica is a member of GOGLA, the off-grid solar industry association, and the Alliance for Rural Electrification, and sells primarily business-to-business from its base in Nairobi.

The company was founded in 2021 by Joseph Mungai, a cleantech entrepreneur who serves as CEO. In August 2026 Mungai was named among the Top 20 entrepreneurs in the Africa's Business Heroes competition, advancing to the semi-final held in Nairobi on 21-22 August.
