About Orienta

Orienta Ltd develops assistive smart glasses for visually impaired people in emerging markets. Its HVAD glasses run computer vision and spatial AI on the device itself, so users can move through streets, recognise people and get spoken information without an internet connection or free hands. The company describes the product as an offline AI wearable navigation system built for visually impaired Africans.

The company is based in Nairobi, Kenya, where it is running pilot trials, and is seeking grant partners and disability-technology funding to move from pilots to production. It targets individual users, and potentially the organisations that serve them, in markets where connectivity is unreliable and imported assistive devices are unaffordable.

In August 2026 Orienta was one of three Kenyan startups among 16 regional finalists for ASME's 2026 ISHOW (Innovation Showcase) hardware accelerator, selected after online pitches and design and engineering reviews held between 6 July and 6 August. Finalists compete for six places in the global ISHOW cohort, which carries grant funding, technical support and design services. Founders and founding year have not been published.
