About DeafSync

DeafSync is a Beninese technology company that develops AI-based tools to reduce communication barriers between deaf and hearing people. Its product HandVoice translates between sign language and text, audio, image or video and is available as an Android app and a REST API. Lambdy is an e-learning platform offering sign-language and local-language courses that training centres and organisations can distribute online, and Vocood provides AI dubbing of media into sign and spoken languages.

The company targets the estimated 40 million deaf people across Africa as well as businesses and institutions that want to make services accessible, with partnership, demo and investment enquiries handled through its site. It was founded in 2023 and is led by co-founder and managing director Osée Soke, a software developer trained at the Université d'Abomey-Calavi. It is based in Abomey-Calavi, in the Cotonou metropolitan area.

Supporters listed on its site include the Mastercard Foundation, the Tony Elumelu Foundation, the Segal Family Foundation and the Social Impact Incubator. In July 2026 DeafSync was one of five startups selected for the second cohort of MTN Benin's Innovation Lab, which provides six to eight months of technical and commercial support and access to MoMo and USSD APIs.
