About Ubuntu Universe
Ubuntu Universe is a Nairobi game studio building impactful, AI-enabled games that deliver education and skills through engaging, scalable digital experiences. Its learning app Soraha lets students download content once and keep learning offline, with a game layer, a school platform for assignments, analytics and reporting, adaptive revision, rewards, local multiplayer over Wi-Fi hotspots and accessibility features. Earlier titles include GMan, Sapana, Laugh-N-Learn and Butwaa, and the studio has won ten Nairobi Global Game Jam awards. Founded in 2024 by Billy Gareth and Joseph Makonge, it was selected for Cohort 4 of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship run by iHub.
