About Freza Nanotech
Freza Nanotech (Freza Nanotech Limited) is a Kampala-based Ugandan startup co-founded by Gift Arnold Mugisha (CEO) and Dr. Samantha Ainembabazi (COO). It develops biodegradable, non-toxic nanotechnology-based preservation products - sachets, pods, bags and stickers - that are placed with fresh produce to inhibit ripening enzymes and extend the shelf life of fruit and vegetables by up to about 30 days with or without refrigeration, targeting post-harvest losses among smallholder farmers, distributors, retailers and exporters. A sachet that protects 5kg of produce sells for UGX 1,000 (company-reported). The company won the FAO Innovation Award 2024 and was one of three cash-prize winners of the SANAD ElevateHer accelerator in October 2026.
