About Dots for

Dots for Inc. builds digital inclusion infrastructure for rural Africa. It deploys ultra-low-cost wireless mesh networks in villages that mobile operators do not reach, then layers digital access and a digital platform on top so that residents, including women and small entrepreneurs, can use connectivity for commerce, finance and services. The company's stated goal is to bring internet access and its benefits to 200 million people in rural West Africa by 2030.

The company was founded in 2021 by Carlos Oba, who previously worked in new business development at Amazon and at startups in Africa and Southeast Asia. It is headquartered in Tokyo with regional offices in Benin and Senegal, and also lists operations in Zambia. Its site publishes annual impact reports, including a full 2025 report.

In July 2026 Dots for was named one of 15 finalists of Renew Capital's Renew Venture Lab: EmFi Series, a programme for embedded-finance lenders, and was selected for the Impact Galleria Award. In October 2026 it was named a finalist for Scale-Up Games 2026. Oba was interviewed by Forbes in July 2026 and presented at Financial Inclusion Week 2026.
