About Skan

Skan is an Accra-based food and health intelligence platform that helps Africans manage food-related health conditions through personalised nutrition. Users snap a photo of their plate, a food label or their shopping list, and Skan tells them whether it fits their health profile, from jollof and waakye to packaged snacks.

The company is building what it describes as West Africa's first indigenously verified food database and offers calls with dietitians, which can also be gifted to others. Scanning is free to start. Skan is participating in the 2026 MEST Africa AI Startup Program.
