Qutis Health is a Nairobi-based company offering what it calls East Africa's first WhatsApp-native skincare audit, built for Fitzpatrick IV to VI skin types. It argues that dermatology AI has mostly been trained on lighter skin, and positions Qutis as a service calibrated from the ground up for African skin.

Users describe their concerns, such as hyperpigmentation, acne, keloids, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or dryness, and receive product recommendations through WhatsApp. Each audit is checked by a qualified human reviewer, with referral to a licensed medical professional when a case needs medical attention. The company also publishes research and a journal, and was taking sign-ups through a waitlist at the time of collection.
