About Intambwe Pad Project

Intambwe Pad Project is a Rwandan youth venture that makes sanitary pads from banana stems, turning agricultural waste into affordable menstrual products. Co-founded by Evode Kwizera, the team has so far produced samples and plans to use its grant to manufacture at larger scale and reach adolescent girls, particularly in rural areas where pads are costly or unavailable. In September 2026 it was one of six winners of Imbuto Foundation's iAccelerator Phase 7, receiving Rwf 10 million in seed funding and six months of training and mentorship.
