About HisWay Labs
HisWay Labs (Pty) Ltd is a South African rail technology company founded in 2018 and based in Somerset West in the Cape Town metro. Its TrackView system is a solar-powered trackside sensor with no copper cabling or batteries that uses the rail itself as the sensing medium to detect broken rails, train position, speed and end-of-train, rail temperature and abnormal impacts, reporting over GSM, WiFi and LoRaWAN to a dashboard or API. TrackView holds PRASA certification and product type approval, is commercially deployed with Siemens Mobility and is in field trials in the United States. CEO and co-founder Franz Struwig previously co-founded radar company iKubu, which Garmin acquired.
