Efficacy Payments is a pioneering South African fintech company founded in 2016, known for reshaping how businesses accept and process card payments. This placed Efficacy among a new breed of fintechs challenging legacy systems in South Africa’s payments landscape.
In July 2025, Efficacy Payments was acquired by Stitch, a leading payments infrastructure company, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of South African fintech. The deal gave Stitch full control of the card payment stack—benefiting major clients like Takealot, MTN, and Standard Bank’s Shyft—and setting a new standard for bank-independent payment innovation across the continent.
