About ecoLABS Africa
ecoLABS Africa is a social enterprise that builds computer labs in township and rural schools and libraries, primarily from obsolete, redundant or unserviceable computers that it refurbishes. It also sets up e-robotics labs where learners build robots, runs ICT centres, and offers e-learning, with the aim of optimising ICT infrastructure in under-resourced schools. The organisation reports more than 50 labs across seven provinces and a target of 100 labs by 2025. It is based in Cape Town, South Africa.
ecoLABS Africa was founded in 2020 and was part of the 2024 cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship run by Injini in South Africa.
