About Catalysts Africa

Catalysts Africa is a Ugandan Earth observation company that builds custom software to process, analyse and visualise satellite data for sustainable development. It provides virtual environments for working with Copernicus satellite data and, with partner companies and research institutions, produces data cubes of satellite time series from missions such as Sentinel and Landsat to make the data easier for end users to access.

The company was incorporated in Uganda in 2018 and is based at the Makerere University College of Computing and Information Sciences and its incubation centre in Kampala. Its main project is the Dunia data platform, which supports African access to and use of Copernicus data. Catalysts also provides consultancy and advisory services on reducing environmental degradation.
