About Bro Cabs

Bro Cabs is a South African ride-hailing platform that replaces per-trip commission with a flat driver subscription. Drivers pay R30 a day, R150 a week or R600 a month and keep the full fare on every trip; riders get upfront pricing, live tracking and the choice of cash, card or wallet payment. The company also runs Bro SCLR for students and arranges vehicle finance for drivers through dealership partners.

The company was founded by Persy Qamata (CEO), Msizi Mtolo (COO), Luther Mfetane (CSO) and Cebile Magudulela (CMO), who built the product after months of interviews with drivers and commuters. It launched in February 2025, ran a controlled pilot in Braamfontein in mid-2025 and opened to the public in November 2025. Within two months of the pilot it had 710 drivers against a target of 50, and by mid-2026 it reported more than 4,900 registered drivers across 118 locations in Johannesburg. It is based in Morningside, Sandton, and has been funded organically with support from angel investor Phindile Maseko.

In October 2026 Bro was selected for the Google for Startups Accelerator: South Africa, one of 15 companies chosen from 1,057 applicants. Rider and driver apps are available on Google Play and the App Store.
