About Kutana Pay

Kutana Pay is a B2B payments and trade platform for small and medium-sized businesses trading into and out of Africa. Businesses set transaction terms in a digital contract, the buyer funds an escrow account, and Kutana releases payment only after agreed milestones such as shipment or receipt of goods are confirmed. The product, marketed as Trade Secure, combines escrow with cargo insurance and dispute resolution.

Around that core the company offers multi-currency wallets covering GBP, USD, EUR and major African currencies, cross-border settlement through a stablecoin-based treasury, AI-assisted credit scoring and working-capital finance for SMEs. It serves exporters, importers and diaspora traders, and reports transactions in more than ten countries and over $2 million processed since its commercial launch in November 2024.

Kutana Technologies Limited was incorporated in October 2023 by Nick Murphy (CEO) and Samuel Opoku (COO), with Mohammed Zakari as CTO. The team operates between Accra and the United Kingdom, where it has applied for FCA authorisation and is onboarding to the FCA Regulatory Sandbox. Kutana completed a pre-seed round and in July 2026 was named one of 15 finalists in Renew Capital's Renew Venture Lab EmFi Series, an embedded-finance programme for African SME lenders.
