Koloso

Koloso is a Zambian education technology company whose platform helps teachers plan and deliver lessons, assess learning and analyse results. It maps national curricula to the UNESCO Global Proficiency Framework, provides curriculum-aligned lesson plans and automated assessments, and gives teachers and school leaders reporting that shows where individual pupils need extra support. The platform works with existing curricula without prescribing a teaching method and is available on the web, Google Play and the App Store.

Koloso Application Technology Zambia Ltd is based in Lusaka and was founded by Petra Chikasa (CMO), James Blewett (CEO) and Siphiwe Munsaka (COO), who have worked together full time for about three years. It sells on a freemium basis: free for individual teachers, with paid plans for schools and tuition centres that add phone support and training. It reports more than 320 schools, 750 teachers and 6,500 learners in Zambia, around 6,000 active users, a 100% renewal rate and sales in Nigeria, with early presence in South Africa, Uganda and Rwanda. It is the official assessment platform for Zambia's Mini-CEO Competition.

Its K2 Teaching Support System launched in August 2026. In October 2026 Koloso was selected for the first cohort of the Botswana Tech Fund accelerator, which invests up to £100,000 per startup, and it is raising a US$250,000 pre-seed round.
