About Gotion Power Morocco

Gotion Power Morocco S.A. is the Moroccan subsidiary of Chinese battery maker Gotion High-Tech (Hefei; Shenzhen-listed), set up in 2024 after a June 2024 investment agreement with the Moroccan government. It is building an integrated cathode-to-cell lithium iron phosphate battery plant on a 156-hectare site in the Kenitra Atlantic Free Zone, in the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region. Phase 1 targets 10-20 GWh of EV and energy-storage cells and packs, with a long-term target of 100 GWh; first cell lines are scheduled to start in late 2026. The project is financed by Gotion, CDG Group (EUR300M, 2024) and a EUR100M African Development Bank loan approved in July 2026. The subsidiary is led by Khalid Qalam.
