About Bluecore Energy

Bluecore Energy is a United States company headquartered inside the Port of Long Beach, California, founded in January 2026 by Ghanaian-American entrepreneur Kofi Asante (ex-Uber Freight, Elroy Air, Arc). It is developing small modular, water-cooled nuclear reactors mounted on floating barges to supply reliable, zero-emission power to ports, critical infrastructure, data centres and, over time, cargo-ship propulsion. Its initial 10 MWe system is sized to power roughly 15,000 homes, is designed to be fuelled once for years of operation and can be paired for scale. The company is the first small modular reactor developer headquartered at a major US port, has delivered its first barge and an electric test reactor to Long Beach, and is engaging the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and US Coast Guard on licensing. Its team draws from SpaceX, Blue Origin, Northrop Grumman, Toyota, Rivian, Uber and the US Navy nuclear submarine force. Bluecore has no African office or project; it appears on StartupList Africa under the African-founder criterion.
