I have been active in financing SMEs for 25 years (since 1994). My deep understanding of the SME finance market & ecosystem (both locally & globally) - is a result of my curiosity, obsession and macro/micro perspectives. The personal “why” for backing/funding SMEs and entrepreneurs - is deeply rooted in my childhood context [growing up in an entrepreneur home - experiencing the joys and pains of it all]. Also, I only ever worked for someone else for 6 months [back in 1993]. All this helps me to resonate & empathize with entrepreneurs. I also support entrepreneurs/SMEs by co-hosting both the Big Small Business Show and the SME Funding Show [both on Business Day TV, Channel 412 DSTV].
