Trey Jarrard is an accomplished entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in private equity, project finance, real estate development, online business and digital distribution and solar energy. He founded Renewvia Energy in 2008 to develop solar power systems in financeable favorable regions across the United States. Under his leadership, the company expanded internationally in 2013 to develop utility-scale solar in Uruguay and then, hybrid and standalone solar photovoltaic and battery-powered microgrids in the Marianas Islands in 2016, Kenya in 2018 and Nigeria in 2019. Today, Renewvia operates under an expanded mission not only to add value to its U.S. clients, but also to improve the quality of life for people in power challenged areas globally while providing above market returns for investors. Creating subsidiaries in Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda, Renewvia is particularly focused on sub-Saharan Africa, where the access to energy challenge is the greatest and where Renewvia's Rural Microgrid Development and Operation Model has the greatest potential to generate sustainable impact and return on investment. Before founding Renewvia, Trey was Partner (2001-2007) in The Convex Group, a private equity firm where he participated in raising over $150 million in equity and acquisition and disposition of four digital distribution technology companies. As Director of Strategic Relations at WebMD (2000-2001), he identified and participated in financing for the leading online consumer healthcare website from its inception to the $5 billion acquisition by Healtheon. Previously, he worked as a Sales Engineer (1994-200) at Guidant Corporation, part of Boston Scientific and Abbott Labs.
