I started my career in creating internet experiences in 1995–this untethered new medium was the most natural place for me to bring together my background in design and technology. Both the Internet and I have grown up a lot since then, but some things have not changed–the value of a good story, the excitement brought by true invention, the importance of listening. As the co-founder of Get Satisfaction, I served as its original CEO (2007-2009) and later CTO (2009-2011). Get Satisfaction, originally billed as "people-powered customer service", is a pioneering service which today enables over 70,000 customer communities, bringing people together around the products and brands they care about. As one of the first social business platforms, Get Satisfaction was founded to help make better businesses by giving their customers a much louder voice. In 2012, along with Lane Becker, I published a New York Times bestselling book, Get Lucky: How to Put Planned Serendipity to Work for You and Your Business. Based on extensive research and interviews with leading scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs, the book demonstrates how eight principles of planned serendipity can be used to drive innovation by individuals and organizations. It was featured in dozens of media outlets, including New York Times, CBS radio, Bloomberg News, KNTV, and Techcrunch. I am currently helping to deliver solar energy as-a-service in the developing world with a high growth startup called Off Grid Electric, on track to light a million homes in Africa. Specialties: Agile product management and design, product strategy, emerging technologies, content marketing, entrepreneurialism, change management, team building, distributed teams
