Steve Etherton

Steve Etherton is President EMEA at DEEP, an international research and development organization pioneering underwater habitats with a mission to make humans aquatic. He has a diverse background combining 12 years in the British Army with high-growth entrepreneurship. Following his military career, Steve spent a decade (2011-2021) as Chief Operating Officer at JUMO, one of Africa's fastest-growing FinTech companies, where he helped raise $90 million. He also served as an Investment Manager at AFB Consumer Finance and as a Mentor at Google. Steve holds a PPE degree from Oxford University (1996-1999) focusing on Industrial & Development Economics and International Relations, and completed leadership training at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He is described as driven, fearless, and curious.
