Michael Philip Cracknell (1940-2024) was a British development professional and co-founder of Enda Inter-Arabe, an international NGO created in Tunisia in 1990 with his wife Essma Ben Hamida. He held a PhD in International Law from Université de Toulouse (France) and studied at University of Bristol (UK). Prior to founding Enda, he served as Secretary General of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers in Paris for 12 years until 1985, and worked as a consultant for FAO, IFAD, and other UN organizations. At Enda, he championed microfinance in Tunisia, co-founding Enda Tamweel in 2015 (originally launched as a microcredit program in 1995). He served as Chairman and President of Enda Tamweel's Board. Known for his commitment to sustainable development, social justice, and financial inclusion, particularly for marginalized populations in the developing world.
