Mark Hemsworth is a Canadian social entrepreneur and business transformation leader based in Lusaka, Zambia. He is currently Business Transformation Director at Good Nature Agro and Co-Owner of Hippo Hills Farm. He co-founded Rent to Own Zambia in 2010, a social enterprise providing asset financing to rural smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs. His interest in international development began in 2003 with Engineers Without Borders Canada, where he volunteered and fundraised. In 2008, he moved to Zambia to work with a honey exporter, observing the capital constraints facing rural entrepreneurs. This experience inspired Rent to Own, which has provided equipment and financing to thousands of farmers. A Mulago Fellow and Rainer Arnhold Fellow, Mark specializes in business development, IT strategy, and creating scalable impact ventures in Southern Africa.
