Kit Vaughan is Emeritus Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Cape Town, where he held the Hyman Goldberg Chair from 1996-2010. His career spans over four decades including post-doctoral work at Oxford University, tenured professorships at Clemson and University of Virginia, and served as President of the International Society of Biomechanics (1999-2001). He pioneered South Africa's medical device industry through ventures including Disa Vascular, Acorn Technologies, Lodox Systems, Leatt Corporation, and founding CapeRay Medical in 2010. Currently CEO of TomoSwiss.AI, he focuses on AI-powered breast cancer detection. A Fellow of the International Academy for Medical and Biological Engineering and holder of multiple U.S. patents, his expertise encompasses musculoskeletal biomechanics, medical imaging, and computational modeling.
