John Mark Bwanika

I am passionate about science and how it can facilitate people's lives to realize their full potential especially in Africa. I have been fortunate to work with leading health researchers at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) as well as co-founding one of the leading indigenous digital health company. My time at IDI has seen me work on HIV/TB diagnostic research, HIV drug dose-optimization research, anti-fungal drug pharmacokinetics among other things. This work has had a combined number of over 1000 research participants under my management. As a team lead at The Medical Concierge Group (TMCG) I have provided start-up leadership that has seen the company grow from zero to a team of 25 staff, country operations in Uganda, Kenya and Nigeria as well as 30,000 monthly telehealth users. Since 2013, the company has supported 5 #ehealth/ #mhealth research programs, nation wide public health programs in partnership with USAID, UNICEF, Health Enabled, ILRI and Ministry of Health. Multiple collaborations with Universities and entrepreneurs from other parts of Africa, USA and Europe have also been established. With a lifetime passion for neuroscience, I continue to pursue opportunities for training and research that will see a world-class neuroscience research centre established on my home soil in #Uganda.
