I'm a Canadian-Italian entrepreneur who leads global teams to achieve social impact and growth objectives. Currently, I'm the co-founder and CEO of Proto, a contact automation platform that applies conversational AI to solve social challenges in emerging markets. Meaningfully, Proto enables regulators and enterprises to support local customers in underserved languages. Notable national-scale deployments in emerging markets such as the Philippines, Rwanda, Ghana, Liberia and Zambia are enabled via partnerships with the African Development Bank, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Omidyar Network, Rockefeller Philanthropy, USAID, the French Development Agency, and Luxembourg's Ministry of Finance. I graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada and received Taiwan's Huayu Scholarship for Chinese language studies at the National Taiwan University. During my undergraduate education, I led mountaineering expeditions to South America and Africa in charitable support of Lt. Gen Roméo Dallaire's Child Solider Initiative. As an officer cadet, I also wrote multiple ground-level reports on misconduct and the need for fundamental culture change within the Canadian military's leadership training system. I enjoy speaking on topics of practical AI applications, financial inclusion, and consumer protection at forums including the Alliance for Financial Inclusion, the Bank for International Settlements, and the G20 TechSprint. If you'd like to discuss these topics, please reach out to curtis@proto.cx.
