Clinton Bemont is a mechanical engineer and materials scientist who holds a PhD from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is CEO and co-founder of maxwell+spark (founded 2017), a global leader in lithium-ion battery systems for industrial logistics including transport refrigeration, forklifts, and backup power. Previously, he served as a lecturer and supervisor at UKZN, where he supervised students working on CERN's ATLAS experiment for the Large Hadron Collider. He co-led UKZN's solar car team and founded Metspect. His research spans hybrid rocket propulsion, paraffin-based fuels, titanium powder metallurgy, and TRIP steels. He won the National Innovation Prize in 2005 for the Smart Bolt invention.
