My interests and experience broadly cover the financial & funding aspects of a business, all of its commercial & legal touch-points, sales, partnerships, business & growth strategies, scaling processes & systems alongside product & team growth, enterprise SaaS & marketplace business models, D2C manufacture & sales, customer acquisition, support & service. I am currently heading up Root’s operations as COO, having transitioned out of parent company FireID. FireID has been building, scaling and selling technology ventures in South Africa and the US for almost a decade. As FireID’s General Manager, I entrenched myself in key strategic projects underway in FireID’s currently active portfolio companies, OfferZen and Root. This experience gave me first-hand insight and knowledge of the day-to-day challenges and opportunities faced by rapidly scaling technology startups and, more importantly, an appreciation of the strategies required to tackle them. Prior to joining FireID, I worked as an investment associate at early-stage venture capital fund, 4Di Capital. I joined FireID to gain crucial first-hand technology startup experience. I have also built a brand and retail business of my own, Chill Winstan, which I sold towards the beginning of 2019. Prior to launching a business, I practiced corporate and commercial law, specialising in private equity, at one of South Africa’s leading law firms, Bowmans.
