Carey Eato

Carey Eaton (1973-2014) was a Zambian-born Kenyan-Australian technology entrepreneur and internet pioneer. He served as Chief Information Officer at SEEK, Australia's leading job portal, from 2008 to 2011, where he modernized IT systems to support brand growth. In 2011, he returned to Kenya and co-founded One Africa Media with Justin Clarke, Africa's largest online classifieds group. Under his leadership, One Africa Media built a portfolio including Cheki (automotive), BrighterMonday (recruitment), BuyRentKenya (real estate), Jobberman, and PrivateProperty. He founded Cheki in 2011, growing it into Kenya's number one car portal with over 150 employees. Eaton was known as an inspirational leader, mentor, and pioneer of Africa's technology revolution, serving as a mentor for the Savannah Fund Accelerator and developing initiatives like the "start-up safari" to train local tech talent.
