Amira El Gharib is an experienced operations executive and entrepreneur based in Cairo, Egypt. She co-founded CairoSitters in 2013 with an initial investment of $1,000, which later rebranded to Orcas in 2016. As Co-Founder and Chief Operations Officer at Orcas, she built a leading edtech platform providing K-12 students with personalized tutoring and babysitting services. The platform grew to facilitate over 1,000 hours of tutoring monthly and raised $3.5 million in funding. In 2024, Orcas was acquired by Kuwaiti edtech company Baims in an $11 million deal, where she now serves as Chief Operations Officer. She won the Ye! Superstar Award in 2018 for youth-led enterprises with annual turnover exceeding $50,000.
