Akeem Olujinmi Lawal is a founding management team member of Interswitch Group since 2002, currently serving as Divisional Chief Executive Officer of Payments Infrastructure and Processing. With over 26 years of experience in electronic payments, payments technology, strategy, and business management, he leads the division responsible for approximately half of the group's revenue. He headed the engineering team that built the InterSwitch Super Switch infrastructure and is co-founder of Africa's first fintech unicorn. Prior to Interswitch, he worked with Oildata Services in Port Harcourt and TELNET as a Senior Engineer. He is a member of the Governing Council of the Fintech Association of Nigeria, an Archbishop Desmond Tutu Fellow of the African Leadership Institute, and a believer in the intelligent use of technology for Africa's transformation.
